Washtenaw County’s Public Defender's Office seeks to engage with the local communities we serve on a range of issues related to economic, legal, and racial justice. Division staff will visit schools, tenant meetings, faith-based organizations, political groups, and social services agencies to provide information and resources. Whether discussing police interaction, criminal record barriers to housing and employment, Children & Family Services involvement, or what to do if Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) comes to your door, Washtenaw County Public Defender (WCPD) provides crucial resources to the community members. We also support the efforts of other community-based organizations through participation in local events and resource fairs, town halls, and community board meetings to further our mission and provide information about the variety of legal and social services we offer.
