Per Michigan Compiled Laws 46.401, the Washtenaw County Apportionment Commission must meet "within 60 days after the publication of the latest United States official decennial census figures... [to] apportion the county into not less than 5 nor more than [21] county commissioner districts as nearly of equal population as is practicable..." The Apportionment Commission consists of the County Clerk, County Treasurer, Prosecuting Attorney, the Washtenaw County Democratic Party Chair, and the Washtenaw County Republican Party Chair.
The Detroit Region Aerotropolis Development Corporation is a four-community, two-county public-private economic development partnership with the Wayne County Airport Authority. Its mission is driving corporate expansion and new investments around the Detroit Metro and Willow Run airports. The County Administrator is the Washtenaw County representative.

The Statutory Drainage Board meets monthly to oversee the management of drains established under Chapter 20 of the Michigan Drain Code, which are established for public health, convenience or welfare. Chapter 21 provides for procedures in multi-county projects. The Drainage Boards consists of three members: the Washtenaw County Water Resources Commissioner, the Chair of the Board of Commissioners, and one additional member of the Board of Commissioners.

Each of the 83 County Election Commissions in the state is comprised of the county clerk, the chief judge of probate of the county or probate court district, and the county treasurer. Election Commission members are responsible for: authorizing the printing of ballots for use in elections, furnishing specified election supplies, holding hearings to determine the factualness and clarify of the wording used on recall petitions, establishing precinct boundary lines for school districts that are contained within more than one city or township, and making temporary appointments to fill vacancies on a township board, if the number of vacancies on the township board results in the loss of a quorum on the board.
The Washtenaw Emergency Communications Consortium is the operational arm of the Washtenaw Emergency Communications millage. They operate a seven-tower Michigan Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) sub-system that provides voice communications for all first responders in the area. Membership consists of: the County Administrator, the County Finance Director, and three individuals representing the police, fire, and emergency medical service providers in the County.
