Testing
CDC is urging healthcare providers in the U.S. to be alert for patients who have rash illnesses consistent with mpox, regardless of whether they have travel or specific risk factors for mpox and regardless of gender or sexual orientation.
Washtenaw County Health Department encourages local health care providers to conduct mpox testing when mpox is suspected. Health care providers conducting testing should wear the appropriate PPE and use sterile synthetic swabs to collect samples. All specimens should be sent through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Bureau of Laboratories.
Vaccines
The Washtenaw County Health Department (WCHD) is a regional mpox vaccine distribution hub. Other hubs include Detroit and Oakland, Kent, Kalamazoo, Ingham, Genesee, and Grand Traverse counties.
Local health departments and health care providers who want to request mpox vaccines from WCHD should complete this form and email it to biologics[at]washtenaw.org.
