For Non-Emergent Police Response

There are 3 options for filing a non-emergency police report for incidents that occurred within Washtenaw County:

  • At Your Location;
    • Call Washtenaw Metro Dispatch (734-994-2911) and request that a deputy/officer be sent to your location. 
    • If you are reporting a crime with a known suspect, please call 734-994-2911 to reach Washtenaw Metro Dispatch so that a deputy/officer can respond to your incident.
  • At a Community Police Station:
    • If you would like to make a report at a community police station, use the call button/call box located on the building for Washtenaw Metro Dispatch and a deputy/officer will respond. 
  • Online at the police agency reporting portals: (Agencies listed alphabetically below)

If you are reporting a non-emergency crime that occurred on the highway or in an area not listed below, but within Washtenaw County, please call 734-994-2911 to reach Washtenaw Metro Dispatch so that the appropriate police agency can respond to your incident. 

Ann Arbor Police Department: (for incidents that occurred within the City of Ann Arbor)

Milan Police Department: (for incidents that occurred within the City of Milan)

  • Harassing phone calls/No known suspects.
  • Identity Theft.
  • Malicious destruction of property/vandalism.
  • Child custody violations.
  • Damaged property/vandalism.
  • Private property traffic crash/parked unattended, returned to find had been struck.
  • Vehicle/animal crash.
  • Threats.
  • Suspicious situation(s).
  • Barking/nuisance dog or animal.
  • Blight.
  • Larceny/theft/no known suspects.
  • Lost property.
  • Accidental/non-intentional property damage.

Northfield Township Police Department: (for incidents that occurred within Northfield Twp.)

FalsePoliceReport ImageA person who intentionally makes a false report in the commission of a crime, or intentionally causes a false report in the commission of a crime to be made, to a peace officer, police agency of this state or of a local unit of government, 9-1-1 operator, or any other governmental employee or contractor or employee of a contractor who is authorized to receive reports of a crime, knowing the report is false, is guilty of a crime. MCL 750.411a

What should I include in the report?

  • Please provide thorough and accurate information. The details should include:
    • Your name, address, birth date, home/work/cell phone numbers.
    • The date/time frames in which the incident occurred. 
    • How you became aware of the incident.
    • A description of what happened. 
    • Location of the incident. It is important that you confirm the incident actually occurred within Washtenaw County. 
    • A detailed description of the property that was taken or damaged: vehicle, insurance company, serial number, or account information that is needed depending on the type of incident report. 
    • Copies of account statements or other documents for cases involving identity theft. 

What happens after I submit my report?

  • You will be given a temporary reference number. You will not be able to obtain a copy of your report using the temporary reference number.
  • Your report will be reviewed within three to five business days. Once it's approved, you will receive an email with your incident number and instructions on how you can obtain a copy of your report.   

All other non-emergency incidents should be reported to 
Washtenaw Metro Dispatch at 734-994-2911.
