The Washtenaw County Clerk/Register’s office is closed to the public until June 15, 2020.

Documents in URGENT need of being recorded during this closure may be submitted by:
- United States Postal Service mail to: Washtenaw County Register of Deeds, PO Box 8645, Ann Arbor, MI 48107
- UPS to: Washtenaw County Register of Deeds, 200 N. Main Street, Suite 110, Ann Arbor, MI 48107.
- FedEx shipments are not routinely being delivered. Please use another shipping service.
- The Washtenaw County Treasurer is providing tax certificates for documents submitted electronically only.
- Please allow extra time for recordings and electronic tax certifications to be processed.

The Register of Deeds Office serves as the repository for real and personal property records for land situated in Washtenaw County, Michigan, including deeds, mortgages, and foreclosure records.
Note: this office does not provide blank documents or forms for recording and cannot provide legal advice.

All documents recorded with the Register of Deeds Office are available to the public.
Submit documents for recording electronically through a Register of Deeds approved vendor.
View the fees for document recording, copies & searches, real estate transfer tax, and tax certificates.
Transfer tax imposed by each act shall be collected unless said instrument of transfer is exempt from either or both acts and such exemptions are stated on the face of the deed.
Recording Fee Change Effective October 1, 2016 in the State of Michigan
Regardless of the number of pages, all documents will cost $30.00 to record.
For a document that assigns or discharges more than 1 instrument $3.00 for each instrument assigned or discharged (in addition to the $30.00 flat fee).
To certify a recorded document $5.00; copies remain at $1.00 per page.
Recording fees are set by the Michigan Legislature. Public Acts 224 through 232 of 2016 have set the new fees.
By law this change applies to all counties in the State of Michigan except Wayne County.
Alert to property owners who have received a letter from a commercial service offering a certified copy of a deed
The Washtenaw County Clerk/Register of Deeds is aware that several commercial services have sent letters directly to property owners offering to provide certified copies of their deed via mail for as much as $83.00 per deed.
The same document is available to property owners for as little as $2.00 from the Washtenaw County Register of Deeds Office.
