Community Mental Health seeks to improve quality of life and increase personal fulfillment for all of our community members, particularly during challenging times, including crisis, and for those that may be dealing with ongoing conditions. Service information and crisis services and supports are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.
To get started, you can call 734-544-3050, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
When you call, express that you are looking to learn more about receiving behavioral health services. There will be someone from the clinical team will talk with you about what you are looking for, what your needs are, and ask for more information regarding your situation. The clinician will also assess to see if you are currently in a crisis and may be in need of immediate support from our mobile crisis team. From there, you can be scheduled with our Youth and Families services if you are under 18, the I/DD program if you have a documented intellectual or developmental disability, the program for Adults living with Mental Health and/or a Co-occurring Condition, or you could be connected with our CARES Team or another community provider.
During the screening process, staff will gather enough information to determine which program you should be scheduled with. Once you are scheduled, you will come in for a full assessment where we will ask questions about your situation, your past history, your goals and expectations, and determine how to best meet your needs. Some of the questions asked during your first visit may be similar to questions you were asked over the phone. These questions will help us clarify information and learn even more about your situation and how to best serve you.
Community Mental Health is mandated to provide behavioral health services to those who have a severe mental illness, severe emotional disturbances, or a qualifying intellectual or developmental disability to those who have some form of Medicaid. Each person’s situation is evaluated on an individual basis. If we find that you do not meet the criteria for our services, you may be referred to our CARES program, or we can work with you to connect you with a community provider who will meet your needs and is covered under your health insurance.
