Death Certificates

The Washtenaw County Clerk/Register’s office is closed through April 30, 2020.

Our offices will not be available in-person or by phone during this time.

Only EMERGENCY requests for certified copies of vital records are being processed by this office at this time. If you have an emergency need for a vital record you must contact vitalrecords@washtenaw.org prior to submitting your request.

Death records for deaths occurring in Washtenaw County are available from the Vital Records office beginning with 1867.  You can search the index here.

Certified Copies

Certified copies of vital records are available through the Vital Records Office. All copies issued by this office are certified copies with a "raised" seal. The issuance of certified copies is governed by Michigan statutes.
