Apply for a Washtenaw County ID Card

NEW! Fee reduction! Effective October 24, 2022 the application fee for a Washtenaw County ID Card has been reduced from $25 to $10.

Upon application, the Washtenaw County Clerk - Vital Records Division shall issue a Washtenaw County Identification (ID) Card to residents who meet application requirements. The Washtenaw County Identification Card Program is available to residents age 11 and older. A Washtenaw County ID Card is valid for up to 3 years and expires the earlier of 3 years from the date of issuance or when cardholder is no longer a resident of Washtenaw County.

Proof of Identity & Residency Requirements

When applying for a Washtenaw County ID card, you must provide documents from the following list worth at least 300 points and show proof of residency:

  •  A minimum of one identity credential from Section A containing a photograph of the applicant.
  • A minimum of one identity credential from Section A or B containing the applicant’s date of birth
  • Any combination of items from Section A or B, totaling at least 300 points.
  • One item from Section C showing proof of Washtenaw County residency in the previous 60 days.

Application Fee

  • $10 - Cash, credit (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, only), or personal check are accepted

If ID card is lost, stolen, or destroyed, applicant must re-apply, meet all requirements again, and pay application fee for replacement card.
