The Clerk/Register’s office is available to the public in-person by appointment, only, in order to allow us to serve the public while carefully adhering to social distancing guidelines designed to protect the health of the public and staff.

Upon application, the Washtenaw County Clerk - Vital Records Division shall issue a Washtenaw County Identification (ID) Card to residents who meet application requirements. The Washtenaw County Identification Card Program is available to residents age 11 and older. A Washtenaw County ID Card is valid for up to 3 years and expires the earlier of 3 years from the date of issuance or when cardholder is no longer a resident of Washtenaw County.
Proof of Identity & Residency Requirements
When applying for a Washtenaw County ID card, you must provide documents from the following list worth at least 300 points and show proof of residency:
A minimum of one identity credential from Section A containing a photograph of the applicant.
A minimum of one identity credential from Section A or B containing the applicant’s date of birth
Any combination of items from Section A or B, totaling at least 300 points.
One item from Section C showing proof of Washtenaw County residency in the previous 60 days.
