COVID-19 Clerk/Register Reopening Plan
Effective June 15, 2020 the Clerk/Register’s office is available to the public in-person by appointment, only, in order to allow us to serve the public while carefully adhering to social distancing guidelines designed to protect the health of the public and staff.
We encourage you to access our services online or by mail unless it is necessary to visit us in-person.

Birth records for births occurring in Washtenaw County since 1867 are available from the Vital Records office.

Veteran Identification Cards are available to veterans honorably discharged (or equivalent) who reside within Washtenaw County.
If you are ordering birth certificates or military discharge papers, please submit your current, valid ID via our submission site within 24 hours. You can also submit your ID by faxing us at (734) 222-6786 within 24 hours. Do not submit your order here. Tip: Fax a large picture of your ID - the image is easier to read.
