Community Action Board (CAB) meetings are open to the public and are held nine months out of the year on the fourth Wednesday unless otherwise noted at:

Eastern County Government Center
415 W Michigan Avenue
Suite 2200 (2nd floor)
Ypsilanti, MI 48197

Membership

The Community Action Board (CAB) serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Commissioners and the Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED), which is the Community Action Agency for Washtenaw County, on matters pertaining to the causes and consequences of poverty. In addition, CAB acts as an advocate for low-income citizens in promoting institutional and community changes which remove barriers to self-sufficiency.

All CAB members fully participate in the development, planning, and implementation of programs that serve low-income communities. The CAB shall consist of 15 members, with 5 members from the consumer (low-income) sector, 5 members from the private sector, and 5 members from the public sector. The low-income or consumer sector representatives are individuals who are from the low-income community or neighborhoods that are served by the CAA.

The private sector may include representatives of nonprofit organizations, business and industry, agriculture, labor, religious, law enforcement, education or other major groups and interests in the community served. Members from the public sector include elected or appointed officials or their designated representatives. Board members are appointed for three-year terms. The two Commissioner Representative positions shall be appointed annually.
