Healthy eating protects against heart disease, cancer, and obesity. But many Washtenaw County residents struggle to eat nutritious foods. Our programs and partnerships focus on connecting people to community food resources, promoting the benefits of healthy eating, and helping people build the skills and motivation to eat healthier.
The Washtenaw County Health Department and Food Gatherers are pleased to offer a free monthly food distribution to individuals and families with lower incomes.
Every 3rd Wednesday of the month.
Foods include fruit, vegetables, dairy products, and bread. Choices may be different each month. For other food distribution locations and food pantries see Food Gatherers’ web page.
Farmers Markets are a great source for fresh, local food. Visit the Washtenaw County Farmers Markets website to find out which farmers markets accept SNAP, Bridge cards (food stamps), Double Up Food Bucks, WIC Project FRESH, Senior Project FRESH, and Prescription for Health.
