Empco, Inc. has partnered with the Michigan Sheriff's Association to provide these written entrance examinations. The tests include both cognitive and attitude/personality testing components. The Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office requires a passing score of at least 75% to remain eligible for positions requiring the written exam. Applicants are not required to wait until a position is posted to participate in an exam. When registering for the Corrections and/or Law Enforcement (Deputy) exams, applicants are given the option to choose multiple counties throughout the state of Michigan; those County Sheriff's Offices can view your scores and use this process for recruitment purposes. For additional information and to register for a test, please visit Empco.
The Washtenaw County Service Center is also a proud testing site for these written examinations. The testing will be held at the:
Learning Resource Center (LRC) 4135 Washtenaw Avenue Ann Arbor, MI 48108
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled test time and make sure to bring your valid photo ID; please secure purses, cell phones, etc. in your vehicle prior to entering the testing facility. The test will begin promptly at the listed time; you will not be permitted in the testing room if you arrive late, you will have to re-register for another test, and your money may not be refunded. If you have any additional questions, please contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office Human Resources Division at 734-973-4650.
