Women's Trauma (J-Port)
Justice Project Outreach Team (JPORT) a specialized program of Community Support and Treatment Services provides a gender specific trauma class to women inmates who identify as having experienced trauma at some point in their lives. This best practice program was designed by Stephanie Covington, PHD, a pioneer in the field of women's issues, addiction, and recovery. She developed an innovative, gender-responsive, and trauma-informed approach to treat women in both institutional and non-institutional settings. Participants learn about trauma and its effects in their lives. They gain the understanding and empowerment to effectively manage trauma symptoms and successfully remain sober.
