The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) is a state law that regulates and sets requirements for the disclosure of public records by all "public bodies" in the state. Many of our records, and records of other State agencies, are available online to the public.
FOIA Requests
If you would still like more information not available through these online resources, please complete a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. You will be charged a fee for reproduction and copying costs, unless proof of inability to pay because of indigency is provided. If the scope of this request requires more than 15 minutes of labor, a fee will be charged for the search, examination, review, and, if appropriate, the deletion and separation of exempt from nonexempt information as provided in Section 14 of the Freedom of Information Act. The fee is being charged because the failure to do so would result in unreasonably high costs to Washtenaw County. A fee may also be waived if Washtenaw County determines the request is in the public interest.
