Behavioral Health Treatment Program (BHTP)
Community-based program provides weekly integrated trauma-informed clinical, developmental, and experiential learning opportunities through contracted and community providers. BHTP provides interdisciplinary model to address substance use disorder, co-occurring mental health issues through community-resource immersive programming. Court staff transport and facilitate skills-building workshops with youth serving organizations that includes academic supports, personal wellness and direct connectivity to community supports.
Consent Docket
Casework support for youth referred to Court on minor misdemeanor charges. Thorough assessment at intake to address presenting and underlying issues that necessitated formal court involvement. Individualized contracts created that include weekly caseworker meetings and community service opportunities that foster prosocial community engagement through a restorative justice lens.
Diversion
Casework support for youth referred to Diversion. Provides thorough intake assessment that allows for individualized case planning to address presenting and underlying issues contributing to behaviors necessitating court involvement. Individualized contracts created that include weekly meeting with caseworker and community service opportunities that foster prosocial community engagement through a restorative justice lens.
Intensive Probation
Court program for youthful offenders requiring a higher level of supervision and support through multiple weekly face to face contacts, available electronic monitoring and individualized therapeutic services, including group and family sessions. Night intervention and skills-building programming is incorporated to increase skills and competencies.
Juvenile Day Treatment Program
A partnership with Washtenaw County Children’s Services, Community Mental Health and educational partner, Washtenaw Alliance for Virtual Education (WAVE). This community-based, daily trauma focused program is for complex, trauma exposed youth in need of increased structure and supports. Youth benefit from specially trained staff and daily intensive clinical opportunities, including individual and group therapy. Alternative schooling allows for both classroom and community-based experiential learning opportunities that include workshops, cultural exposure and weekly community service programming. Strong emphasis on employable and life skills building facilitated by Juvenile Division staff.
Prevention, Education & Permanency Unit
Chronic Absenteeism Support
Program provides supportive casework services for students presenting with attendance concerns that are referred to WISD/court by school districts and public charters. Court staff collaborate with school staff, families and interdisciplinary agencies to create individualized plans. Weekly support and resources with referred students during both the academic year and summer school when applicable.
Prevention
Caseworkers work directly with youth and families in need of supports, resources and provider referrals. Program referrals come from schools, community agencies and direct service professionals. Caseworkers utilize interdisciplinary team approach to identify specialized resources, develop individualized case plans, and provide direct system navigation support.
Probation
Formal supervision program for court-ordered youth with low to moderate risk or mid-level offenders. Intervention includes programs and services that emphasize skills building, competency development, counseling/therapy, supervision and community safety, and victim restoration.
Sexually Reactive Treatment
Intensive community-based support and supervision of youth charged with criminal sexual conduct. Decreases risk of re-offending through supervision, counseling, and treatment. Case plans for youth include SRT, trauma therapy, empathy development, victim restoration and parental support/ participation.
